Dear M.S. 88 community,
We know many of you are looking for ways to bring comfort to families that need it this winter and to build our strength as a community. We are pleased to announce our new Drive to Thrive for 2023!
We will be collecting food, clothing, toiletries and cold weather essentials for all our M.S. 88 kids whose families could use a hand right now. Our next donation event will be on February 2nd, from 4:00-5:30pm (more details to come).
Here’s how you can help now:
– Purchase items on our M.S. 88 Amazon wishlist here. We added new items based on feedback from families at our donation event in November. A huge and heartfelt thank you again to everyone who generously helped to buy out the previous Amazon list! Everything on this new list is needed, but it would be helpful to prioritize cold weather items, food and toiletries. All items will ship from Amazon to the school’s address.
Note that you must sign in to your own Amazon account first. Then paste the link for the wishlist into your browser, and you should see either a list of the items or an invitation to collaborate (which you can “accept” to view the list). Please note that you can check how many of an item have been purchased or are still needed, by clicking on the “Edit comment, quantity & priority” link next to each item.
– Bring in other donations of non-perishable food, toiletries, and clothing. Clothing donations should be clean, seasonally appropriate and in like-new or very good condition. Donations can be dropped off any day of the week when school is open—please bring them to the office of our Parent Coordinator, Ms. Jordan.
– Sign up here to be added to an email Google Group the PTA is creating to organize volunteers. Throughout the school year, the PTA will ask for volunteers to help by donating time to sort supplies, helping at donation events, driving deliveries of supplies for drop off, or networking with other local donation centers or legal/social service providers. Feel free to sign up just to help brainstorm, discuss ideas, or receive the emails, even if you are not sure of your time capacity to volunteer.
With your help, we can make this a warm winter for all our students and families! For any questions, please contact Parent Coordinator Tracy Jordan (tjordan3@schools.nyc.gov or 718-788-4482 ext. 148).
Please note that this effort is separate from the District 15 day of action, which has now concluded.
Thank you!
The Family Mutual Aid Committee of the M.S. 88 PTA
